Cook up a storm with these award-winning saucepans
These unique, award winning saucepans were developed by designer, Celia Gates after watching her grandmother struggling to lift a heavy pan. Applying basic ergonomics, Celia decided to bend the handle so that you can hold the saucepan in a strong, neutral wrist position which is the angle at which the muscles and tendons in the arm best perform. She also added a second, helper handle which allows you to split the weight of the saucepan across two hands.
This set of three saucepan consists of a 12cm milk pan, a 16cm pan and a 20cm chef’s pan as a boxed set - which makes it an ideal gift for the keen cook.
• 12cm milk pan and lid - use for milk, sauces, gravy, soup. Pouring lid allows you to pour easily from the pan.
• 16cm pan and lid - perfect for heating soups, boiling pasta, potatoes or rice and warming stews or hot pots. Pouring lip allows you to pour easily from the pan.
• 20cm open chef’s pan - a great pan for almost anything including frying, simmering, and stewing.
• Easy grip handles and knobs
• Helper handles
• Made from lightweight, hard anodized aluminium which is very durable and will not contaminate the food
• Suitable for use on all cooking surfaces including gas, electric, ceramic, induction and solid fuel. (The 12cm pot pan may not work on some induction cookers due to the small size of the base).
• Dishwasher safe.

Celia Gates was inspired to invent the Doctor Cook cookware range after seeing her grandmother struggling to lift a heavy saucepan.
Traditionally a saucepan has always had a long straight handle. This is because it was first used in an open fire and the long handle was needed to protect the cook's hands from the naked flame. When the cooking surface was modernised and moved up, out of the hearth and onto the familiar hob used today, the saucepan handle was simply shortened. Nobody stopped to think about whether the design of the saucepan should be changed further.
Nobody that is until Celia Gates began to research the solution and came up with a design which by bending the handle, allows the cook to hold the saucepan in a strong, neutral wrist position.
"Ergonomics saves you time and energy" says entrepreneur Celia. "It's about time we started considering the boundaries of inclusive design"
Doctor Cook Limited was founded in December 2006 to bring home ergonomics and make cooking safer and easier for everyone. Celia has gone on to win many international awards including the title of European Female Designer of the Year 2007.
