New Workshops from MAF artist, Eleanor Owens

Great to see the first of these new workshops, from Michael Aldrich Foundation artist, Eleanor Owens (Owens Outdoors) who has worked with us for a number of years.

Eleanor will be sharing the therapeutic nature of traditional wood carving in the beautiful workshop space of Steyning based community organisation, In Her Hands.

Participants will have the opportunity to design and create their own spoon from locally sourced greenwood, always from wind-blown or damaged trees. Using three traditional hand tools (axe, straight knife, hook knife) there will be the chance to practice safe axe and knife grips and come away with a usable, oiled spoon and the knowledge to make more.  This workshop is taught with small numbers with a 1:5 teacher to pupil ratio.

Sliding scale ticket prices from £35-65  make this is one of the most affordable spoon carving workshops.
